Zoho at CES

Submitted by Rick on January 14, 2008 - 10:32pm.
  • CES 2008

We were pleased to run into my favorite Web 2.0 app representatives in the hall at CES.
Zoho offers a complete online office
experience for no cost. Zoho applications can be accessed any time, any where with any computer and a web browser. How can they offer such a great product for no cost? I asked them that very question and the answer is their parent company, AdventNet, supports the project. Sridhar told me that AdventNet has been extremely profitable and they wanted to introduce web productivity applications for everyone's use in 2004.

Currently, Zoho supports over 600,000 users of which 1/2 million of them joined in 2007! Zoho continues to add great web applications to their online offering including new versions of their presentation manager and their most recent addition; Database & Reports. Understandably, the most popular application is the word processor.

Sridhar and Raju demonstrated some of the power of Zoho with their integrated desktop that pulls together the Zoho Calendar, email, any Zoho document or web application and much more. The short visit we had with these visionaries was extremely informative and motivating. There really is no reason to invest in expensive desktop software with great online applications like Zoho available to us all via our web browsers.

Some of Zoho applications

Submitted by Smart Computer User on January 16, 2008 - 1:38am.

Some of Zoho applications are really good, but not all of them. Well, it can be difficult to make everything answer the same level of quality. For example, their project management software is still immature and there are lots of bugs to fix. That's why I still use Wrike [http://www.wrike.com] for a project management tool. It's got all the features I need: drag-and-drop editable Gantt charts, castomizible reports, and smart e-mail integration, that is it lets me to create and update my tasks via e-mail. Simple, affordable, user-friendly - that's what I like ablout Wrike.

From Zoho Projects

Submitted by Smart Computer User on January 24, 2008 - 2:54am.

Hi,

This is Sadiq from Zoho Projects. We're continually working on enhancing our products and services to not only meet but also exceed our users expectations.

With our recent update, we've brought Zoho Projects under Zoho services Single Sign-On(SSO). This SSO feature has opened the door for Zoho Projects to have a tight integration with other Zoho services. Very soon, we'll be integrating Zoho Chat functionality with Zoho Projects and eventually, we'll try integrating other Zoho services like Zoho CRM, Mail, etc.

In spite of our best efforts to provide our users with best of products and services, few users trip over some unforeseen issues. Rest assured, we take utmost measures to address those issues as early as possible once they are brought our notice.

We would greatly appreciate if you could write to us on the the issues you faced with Zoho Projects to support(at)zohoprojects(dot)com. With your help, we'll continue improving Zoho Projects to make it a best project management app on the web.

Sadiq

Zoho business model ...

Submitted by Smart Computer User on January 14, 2008 - 10:58pm.

Rick,
Thanks for a great post! I enjoyed meeting with you! Zoho will stay free for consumers. Even for businesses, it will start with a good free edition (just like our Zoho CRM does, free for first 3 users and then $12/user/month from 4th user onwards).

We have followed this model in AdventNet to great success - you can see that almost all our products at http://adventnet.com have a useful free edition!

Sridhar
