Trouble reading or printing our tips?

HelpMeRick.com is designed for a screen resolution of 1024x768. Many people have their screens set on a lower resolution of 800x600.

This can cause our tips for format a little funny.

If you would like to read our tips in a great format without messing with your screem resolution, here is how to do it:

1. Click the "more" or "read more" link at the bottom of any story or tip.

2. Click the "printer friendly version" link at the bottom of the page.

3. POOF! You will now be able to see the tip in a great format for viewing and printing.

Missing file names under documents or photos in thumbnail view

Lately, more than a few people have had trouble with missing file names in the thumbnail view of some of their folders. It isn't entirely apparent why this happens, but fortunately the cure is pretty simple. If you are one of the poor souls who happens to be missing their file names, follow these steps:

Open the offending folder to see the thumbnails

Click View from the menus (or the view button on the toolbar), and click Details

Hold the SHIFT key down on your keyboard and Click View from the menus (or the view button on the toolbar), and click Thumbnails

You should now see thumbnails with file names under them.

Print just what you want...

I am resurrecting this great tip from my archives. This tip first appeared about four years ago on the show and then the web site. I wanted to share it again because of our new listeners and the extreme usefulness of the tip.

Printing information from the web can sometimes be frustrating. A long web page yields reams of paper when you only wanted a couple of pages. Read on to learn how to print only the pages you want!

Firefox/Internet Explorer/AOL

Highlight the part of the page you want to print with your mouse

Click on File ---> Print

Thanks to 'deadman' in the chat room who helped us out this week in discovering this great online conversion tool. Even though it is still in beta, we want to help get the word out so that folks support this project. Convert PDF to RTF and much more!
