DYMO Twin Turbo: Even postage can be fun

dymoI probably lick about four stamps per year. I don't even mess with labels, I just do it the old fashioned way by writing the addresses by hand.

My wife buys self stick stamps and the only real mail we send out are bills that come with pre-addressed envelopes.

Today I saw a very cool device that has me trying to come up with reasons to buy a label and stamp printer.

The DYMO Twin Turbo [1] is a small printer that prints labels only. It features two spools for two different sized labels. The print speed is also amazing.

While the software wasn't anything fancy, it had everything you need to do a basic mailing label.

The best part about the Twin Turbo was that you could load blank stamp labels and address labels in the same system. If you have never seen how self-printed postage works, you have to look into it. After seeing it in action today, I think it's the way of the future.

Using the software that came with the DYMO, you go through five minute, two step process of setting up a special online postage account. Once the account is set up all you have to do is open the software and type in how many stamps you want to print.

For heavier items, the Twin Turbo package that I setup today also had a scale included. The scale was tied into the system and it told the software exactly how much postage the item needed. Click print and out came a stamp for postage matching the weight.

The software was tied to a credit card so that there were no limits on the number of stamps or amount of postage that you could print.

DYMO really has a good thing going with this Twin Turbo mailing system. I didn't look into the software and service that DYMO uses for printing postage so I can't say whether the postage costs anything beyond the cost of the stamp or whether there is a subscription fee of some sort.

The DYMO Twin Turbo seemed to be the perfect solutions for homes and small businesses that do a lot of mailing.
