Interesting Web Finds
After 30+ years of reading magazines, I finally came up with a plan that helps me organize and follow up with interesting facts and tips. I now keep a reporter's notebook with me when I read and then I jot down the tip or web site and then I can share or recylce the magazine. Today, I was going through my recent findings and found some great sites that you might want to check out as well.
Spongecell - an online, easy-to-use calendar program with many features and possibilites
101 Freebies (software) from PC World - Some nuggets in this list include: FolderSync, WordWeb, and Skype
Diceware - Security has always been important, but now more than ever, having a strong password is important. If you still use the same password for everything, you are playing with fire. This site explains the pros and cons of various passwords and tools to create better passwords.
Absolute Software - As college and high schools start graduating their seniors in the upcoming weeks, a common graduation gift is a laptop. As wonderful as laptops are, they have a tendency to get stolen rather frequently. This service is one of many new services offering "tracking software" that can help track down where your laptop got carted off to and increase the chance of recovering it.
Central - This utility from Blue Fish Wireless is a security tool for Palm Treo users (like Adam and I). It has many functions, but the most fun and important one is its 'kill pill'. If a Treo is ever stolen, the owner can send a SMS message to it that will destroy all data on the smartphone. Ethan Hunt, eat your heart out!
