Browster - Enhanced Browsing Add-on for Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox

Browster is a freely available tool to help you navigate the web and especially your search results quicker. The download is quick and the setup is extremely easy as well.

Once installed, Browster automatically downloads links in the background. Doing this allows you to click on the Browster icon (will appear when you hover the mouse over a link) and the Browster browser window will appear instantly. Check out their demonstration on the Browster homepage to learn more.

I do like the fact that you can quickly preview a link without first bringing it up in your browser window, but with tabbed browsing used in Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and the upcoming Internet Explorer 7.0, I don't know how long the tool will last. On dial-up connections, the pages load slowly and the tool isn't as effective as with a broadband connection.

I think the tool would be more useful if the computer user could toggle it on or off when needed. I found that after using it for a few weeks, the Browster window would actually get in my way from time-to-time if I didn't pay attention to where my mouse was hovering. Another feature that might make it helpful is to either have a readily available option to decrease or increase the sensitivity of the mouse response OR the option to click the Browster icon versus hover over it.

Personally, I think tabbed browsing is as effective and quick as using Browster, but the idea has some merit for those who need to look at hundreds of links every day. With the addition of a few user controlled options, I think Browster could be more useful. All that being said, it is worth trying and see if it fits the way YOU browse the Internet.
