Windows and Internet Games - January 2006
This month we talked about how to play and get the most out of the free games that come with Windows:
- Solitaire
- FreeCell
- Pinball
- Hearts
- Minesweeper
Use the help in these programs to learn more about how to play these games and get some hints for the games as well.
We also visited online gaming sites from Yahoo!, Pogo, and Microsof (MSN) Games.
Because Internet hackers and evil-doers prey upon the unsuspecting, we discussed the following rules to keep your online gaming fun and safe:
- Stick with large well known sites like the ones listed.
- Don't visit sites that advertise extensively on the radio or TV (casino sites).
- If a site asks for too much information up front when registering, close the window and never return.
- If a site starts to have pop-ups when you arrive at it, close the window and never return.
- Keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware software up and running at all times and make sure it is updated.
- When in doubt, close the window and never return.
- The sites above are free, but watch out for sponsored links that may shift you into a pay site or site other than the one you want to be using.
Online gaming can be fun and entertaining, but follow the sites and rules listed here.
