Searching through the email

Many of you are familiar with how to search the Internet, but did you know you could search through your email similarly? Look for the "Search" function in Thunderbird and the "Find" function in Outlook or Outlook Express in the  Edit menu.

Using these tools, you can quickly search through hundreds of messages to find a specific sender, content of the message, etc. Simply fill in the boxes corresponding to the information you want to search for. You can choose to search for a word in the From, To, Subject or Body of the message.

Here's an example: You are frantically looking for a message that was sent to you about a recipe that you would like to print. However, you can't remember who or when it was sent. You do remember that it had chocolate chips as one of the ingredients. Use the find or search function for your email and search for the word "chocolate". In seconds, your computer will show you only those messages that contain the word chocolate. If you have a tendency to keep large numbers of messages in your email box, this tip will save you hours of frustration. Practice with it a few times and you will find it an irreplaceable tool.
