The Twister Group
This week's site is a General Bargain Site called "The Twister Group" . The site includes an interesting collection of items. It is a "trusted store" from many of the major shopping sites which we have reviewed earlier. Be sure to check out the Specials.

BEWARE NASTY NASTY NASTY CUSTOMER DI-SERVICE
Be very careful about inacurate listing headers. I searched google for a canon pixma700 and got a hit on the twister group. Ordered it and received a pixma mx300. Apparently, the header had both pixma mx700 and mx300 in it.
I contact them and they ignored me and got rude when I persisted. Only when I filed a complaint with paypal did they email me an rma return shipping label.
Then I couldn't get them to post a refund. After 13 days, I told them that I would be filing additional complaints in a day or two. I filed one with paypal and paypal refunded my money.
Now twister threatened me with collection for postage both ways and restocking fees if I don't remove some negative review. I told them that I had been truthful about the situation at the time and would not lie. I asked what review they were referring to and they simply said that they would turn it to collection.
Since I didn't cave in to their extortion attempt, they have submitted an amount to collection 150% of the printer's price! They wanted 50% for the restocking fee! They have submitted my email address to enough porn sites that I've had to get a new email address and they've posted my name and email address to review sites for the spambots to collect.
CROOKS!!! BAIT AND SWITCH!! WANTS TO BE PAID TWICE FOR SAME ITEM
This store is a joke!! Their ad misrepresented the item being sold. The add stated a Thrustmaster Rally GT Pro steering wheel and both the ad and my conformation email show a picture of the wheel. When the package arrived it was only the extra pedal set and no wheel!! I called them to return the item because the pedals do me no good without the wheel not to mention the misleading ad I had been duped by, and now they want me to pay A 20% RESTOCK FEE ON A BAIT AND SWITCH ITEM PLUS SHIPPING BACK TO THEM!!!!! They also said they are not responsible for the ad on shopping.com. Well let me see now..they're selling their products through shopping.com but are in no way responsible for what the ad states or claims THEY are selling. So if I put an auction on Ebay and misrepresent the item then I too am not responsible because Ebay is the one displaying the info? NOT!!!! Oh and if you buy something else from them then it's only a 10% restock fee..another joke!! If you're going to buy something else from them don't ya think the restock fee should be waived? What a rip!! Also I paid for the item with Paypal and filed a dispute. When you file a dispute with Paypal they pull the funds from the venders account and put the funds on hold until the dispute is settled. I then received a letter from a collections agency stating that not only do I owe money to The Twister Group but now the amount has gone from $27.00 to $110.00 in less then 3 weeks!!! Are they kidding or what? First off I don't owe them a penny, they have been paid except that Paypal is holding their money. This is fraud. Second, if it did happen to be an accual debt owed how did they figure $110.00 on an original debt of $27.00 less then a month old. There are laws and regulations against anybody even banks and loan companies from charging that kind of interest so they are again in violation of federal and state law. I
have file reports with both the internet crime division of the FBI and the Federal Trade Commission. Also I have found that they have been cited by the FCC for violating laws pertaining to the sale of police radar jamming devices. The main one being Rocky Mountain Radar. This is why they are not an authorized dealer, not because they would have to sell their produsct at a higher price. Boy I hope the FCC slams them good!!!
update: On March 12 I received an email from Shopping.com's head of customer relations stating that it was their mistake and they take 100% responsibilty. They also statd in email that they have contacted merchant and have paid all moneys owed on my behalf. So since shopping.com claimed 100% responsibility and paid them their money, Paypal refunds my money. A few days after Paypal refunds my money I receive a letter from a collections agency saying that I owe them $110.00 for the item which was originally $27.00 which they already received payment for from shopping.com! Do they really think they can get paid twice? Not to mention the fact that the amount they are now demanding far exceeds all laws and regulations pertaining to the amount of interest that n any business or institution is alloed to charge including banks and loan companies. So they are now venturing into lonesharking and what could also be considered racketeering? They really are pretty stupid to risk everything over an item that they sold for $27.00 and which I'm sure their cost was much lower. I have written a letter to the collections agency with all documentation including shopping.com's statement of fault. Here also is a response I receved to my review on epinions.com:
Shopping.com takes responsibility (Reply to this comment)

It was determined that Shopping.com displayed the wrong product information to the author of this review, causing the confusion over this order. Shopping.com takes responsibility for this incident. I've moved this review to "Shopping.com" as it more accurately reflects on the Shopping.com service than the Twister Group. Shopping.com is actively working to ensure that the consumer and the merchant are taken care of, and that any remaining dispute is resolved. Thank you - Andy Hilal, Product Manager, Epinions.com Mar 09 '07.
If you have been wronged by this company please report them to the authorites cause if they get enough reports they will take action against them.
BUY FROM THE TWISTER GROUP!!!
I was recently burned by an online electronics store. I became a much more careful shopper after that. Now, whenever I use a price comparison site I always do a lot of research before buying from anyone. During that research it became obvious that 90% of the stored offering extremely low prices were actually the typical bait and switch type store.
I was looking for one of the Hitachi Hybrid camcorders. I looked on numerous different price comparison sites. Circuit City had them for $599. There were a few other sites I had never heard of that had them for around $450 + shipping. I saw The Twister Group had it for $419 + 17 shipping. I immediately assumed that if I ordered from them I would get called and harassed by a salesman trying to sell me accessories. I wrote them off.
After more searching I decided to look into The Twister Group. I read their reviews on here and they were surprisingly good. Most of the bad ones were from people who were aggrevated by The Twister Group's credit card policies. So, I took a chance and ordered from them. I really did think it was too good to be true. I went into it thinking I was going to end up fighting for a refund a few weeks from now. I was so skeptical that I even e-mailed them the day after ordering to ask if the item was in stock and when it would ship. Within 15 minutes I had a response. They said it was shipping that day. That evening my tracking information was available through their website.
It's Febuary 2nd now. It's been 5 days since I placed my order. My camera came via UPS this morning.
I'd definately reccomend this site. Great customer service, amazing prices, and fast shipping. I saved $150+ by buying from the Twister Group. Don't let thier odd name fool you. They aren't another one of these shops that will try to sell you accessories. They never even offered me accessories nor did they ever call me.
It may seem like I'm rambling on and on about this site, but after going through hell with the last company I ordered from I am so happy to get great service AND a great price. I was beginning to think that you couldn't get both. I had also lost faith in price comparison sites. Most of the sites with low prices that they show are the type that have salesmen call you to "confirm" your order when they really want to sell you overpriced, generic accessories. I will definately order from The Twister Group again. They will be the first site I check next time I'm looking for any type of home electronics.
BUY FROM THE TWISTER GROUP!!!
Avoid the Twister Group
I tried to purchase a 7.2V NiCad battery and charger from this company through Buy.com. The batter with charger was ordered on the 20th of March. Nine day later, no email follow-up, notification of the reseller’s information including contact and no battery and charger. After finally getting the contact information regarding the reseller (see below) I went to their site to check for availability of the item I ordered. Get this. The same item listed as selling on Buy.com from “Twister” as the reseller is know is $19.29. On his site, the same item sells for $14.12. As of now, I have email the company to cancel the order. On top of all of this, the item I ordered from Twister through Buy.com is, according to their site, our of stock.
I received an email from Twister on 03/29/07. The order was canceled 3/21/07 and they have no idea why I never received an email. The order I still listed as active in my Buy.com history.
On 04/06/07, I received the following email today from the sales department of The Twister Group.
"We feel that we have to inform all online merchants community that you a potential fraudulent buyer. We will add your name, address and email to the list of people to avoid. Furthermore, to alleviate an impact of your unfair feedback, we reserve the right to use your personal information to resell to advertisement channels. Now it is your turn to decide if our company deserve your blame for lack of Buy.com response."
So, unless I remove any negative feedback, this company will sell my personal information. Nice.
