The Ultimate Tech Device - Treo 600/650

Submitted by HelpMeRick.com on December 30, 2005 - 6:22pm.
  • Hardware Tips

Adam and I talk frequently on the show about our love affair with our PalmOne (formerly Handspring) Treo's. We both own the Treo 600 and have used them since November 2003.

Quite frankly the Treo 600 is technology nirvanain a 7 ounce package. I realize that is a strong statement, but read onward to learn why I think it is true AND why this smart phone is not just for geeks.

First, this do it all gadget is the ONLY phone of any type to be carried by all major cell phone carriers, includingVerizon,Sprint, and Cingular(AT&T). After rebates, this amazing device can be had for as little as $200! Even the newTreo 650 for Sprint can be had for under $250 with rebates.

This device not only is a full functioning cell phone, but is also an address book, appointment book, to do list, memo/note organizer, camera, MP3 player, calculator, Palm based organizer, web browser, email program, and SMS communicator. These are functions the device has directly out of the box!

Because the Treo is based on thePalm operating system, you can customize it to perform almost any function you can think imagine. I have a searchable county street map on mine (maps are available for all of North America and much of Europe), star chart, some games, password manager, conversion program for any type of measurement, Palm versions of Microsoft Word and Excel compatible programs and much more.

I don't know of anyone of any age or profession that doesn't perform at least five of the above functions on at least a daily basis. With the Treo, you can lighten the load you leave home with everyday. On top of all this, learning the Treo does not require a PhD from M.I.T.

The Treo may not be the lightest or smallest 'phone' in the cellular market, but considering it combines at least four devices into one makes it a compelling choice to consider. You can read Adam's extensive review of the Treo 600 by clicking here.

The new Treo 650 just released by PalmOne adds a brighter and higher resolution screen, improved camera with 'camcorder' capability, faster performance, and Blue Tooth capability. Otherwise it is very similar to the 600.

Call us any weekend on the show to ask us questions you might have about the Treo and its abilities.
