GoDaddy.com email snafu

Ran across a strange situation today that I hadn't seen before. The customer has domain (your own personal name) email hosted through the popular godaddy.com service. Often times they can't receive emails from each other or from customers because the emails were getting returned to the sender saying "this user does not accept non-Western character sets or encoding".

A character set in computing contains letters, numerals, and symbols that make up a font. Every character has a corresponding number that the computer tracks it with. This is a simplistic explanation of how character sets work in the computer world, but the best I can do for this article.

After a quick Google search, it appeared that the problem started with the godaddy hosting service. By default, the service does not allow email from non-wester character sets, and therefore rejects some emails that it does not completely recognize. The solution is to log into your godaddy account, go to the email settings showing your accounts you have created then clicking the check box that says it's ok to allow non-Western character sets. There is no global setting for this in godaddy, you must make the change in each email account that you are using.

After making the change, all emails went through the system without a hitch. Kind of a narrow topic for today's Shotgun, but godaddy.com is popular enough, I'm hoping it pulls someone off the edge of the digital cliff.

It's already enabled or activate the non-western character in each email accounts but it's still cannot accept the non-western character. Emails was bounced back with the sender.
