Firefox 3.0 Bookmark & History Search - Video Tip
Firefox 3.0 was released last week after a long development period. The Mozilla folks put together an extremely good package and made genuine improvements in speed and features...a rare accomplishment in today's software arena where programs get larger and less usable. The feature I use the most, so far, is the incredibly fast searching of both my browsing history and my bookmarks. Firefox built this feature directly into the address bar and the results are nothing short of magical. I promise that once you try it and see the power, you will never look back. The short how-to video below demonstrates exactly how useful this feature is and how quickly you can master and start using it.
Let me know what you think of this new Firefox feature and what features you have found to be your favorite by leaving a comment below.

Excessive automation -- terrible and annoying
As soon as I begin typing in the address bar, Firefox 3.0 starts offering possible matches from my bookmarks. It's like having a WAY too eager assistant who constantly finishes my sentences and usually wrong. Worse, it throws light on bookmarks I have carefully buried where my kids are unlikely to find them. How do I shut this "feature" off?
Excessive automation -- Sorry, me again
Just saw the video clip. So this is an "upgrade"? A "benefit" "for my own good" that I can't even turn off? What, did Mozilla get taken over by Micro$oft? I am soooooooo glad I kept 2.0--one of the things I liked best about old FireFox was that it didn't just barge in and force you to do things its way. This indicates an extremely troubling shift in Mozilla's philosophy and relationship with its users. FIE!
Vista

You are right...I am highly disappointed with Vista, but yet like AOL, I still aim to help out the users of these poor products. If you search for Vista here at HelpMeRick.com, you will find many Vista tips that I've posted over the past couple of years.
girefox three glitch, thank you
Thanks to Walter in Pheonix, I have found the back arrow and home buttons. Also using customize and dragging got rid of spell boy.
His fix worked, thanks again.
firefox three glitches
Hi rick: I have found the following three glitches in firefox three.
1. Does not have a back arrow. Sometimes when you go to a new window or page the close tab x does not appear. With no back arrow like in explorer, I can't go back to previous page and can only close by using big red x on top and start firefox all over.
2. There is no icon for returning to my home page like I have in explorer or had in firefox two as I remember.
3. The default for firefox three does not have a usefull spell checker. The spell boy is useless, and can't be removed. You can get a good spell checker by going to settings and hitting spell check.
Appreciate a fix or a video tip on dealing with these problems.
Like the speed and bookmark check, but there glitches make for problems in using three. regards, Jose in Paonia
Firefox 3 glitches - fixes
Jose,
To get the back arrow and home button, right click in the area of the help link and you should see options for toolbars. Select the navigation toolbar. You will see the familiar links. If you select "customize" you will be able to add and subtract items from the toolbar.

Firefox 3
Love Firefox 3. The problem I have is no more mail envelope. Also it's interaction with hotmail or Live is at best shakey.
Another Firefox 3 like!
Just tried typing in address bar "cas" and up cane among other things, this video tip on "Bookmark & History Search". because I wanted to send another like.
Full screen [F11] is full screen. All bars creep out of the way. Great!
AND, if when typing into the address bar, using mouse middle click will load the selection into a new tab.
Great upgrade / update.
Have fun, Chalmers
