Does this give you any confidence in Microsoft's direction?
You may have heard that Microsoft teamed up with Jerry Seinfeld (reportedly to the tune of $10 million dollars) to come out with an ad or two to counter Apple's popular TV spots dissing Windows Vista. Overall, they are spending $300 MILLION dollars on the campaign.
Watch the video to see what Microsoft's ad agency came up with for the opening salvo. After you watch, let me know what you thought of the ad by leaving a comment below.

Breaking News
According to the website valleywag.com, the Microsoft ads have been cancelled. According to the website:
Remember those awful Microsoft ads with Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates? Well, now you can forget them. Microsoft flacks are desperately dialing reporters to spin them about "phase two" of the ad campaign — a phase, due to be announced tomorrow, which will drop the aging comic altogether. Microsoft's version of the story: Redmond had always planned to drop Seinfeld. The awkward reality: The ads only reminded us how out of touch with consumers Microsoft is — and that Bill Gates's company has millions of dollars to waste on hiring a has-been funnyman to keep him company.
Goodbye Jerry!

#%&@# vista
this commercial is as screwed up as as vista
Commercial & Vista
I my self did'nt like the commerical. Did'nt understand it. But alot of you people out that don't know how to use vista, all you have to do it just get into it learn, its not that hard. I realy like my vista. I just haven't found where you can delete the hiden files. but other then that I like it.
Lana
I don't like Vista because
- the price of Vista itself is so high given how little actual useful improvement there is over XP.
- the additional hardware costs required to support it.
- it leaves me feeling that Micro$oft thinks we're too stupid to know that there must be a better way, and that we will just accept what they supply.
Dave
what are you running? an atari?
If you don't have a computer that can run Vista based on hardware alone then you don't deserve to have a comment.
Why not?
You think people who just do some email and a bit of word processing don't have the right to an opinion? They should have to pay extra for Vista and the hardware to run it? Do you work for Microsoft?
That is foolish
I've got a computer capable of Vista. I'd just rather have the CPU cycles process Photoshop or a spreadsheet than unnecessary look-good "improvements".
I thought the commercial was
I thought the commercial was funny, and I guess I have the only vista system that works. I have never had any problems with it.
Gates and Seinfeld
I think the potential for a great commercial, (or series of them), with these two buddying-up is there, just not in this one. I like the chemistry between them. They need to write another one, and try again.
GAtes commercial
Trying to make Gates look cheap is a losing effort....the world knows he's rich and generous, but cheap, hardly.
BUT, the commercial is funny; it just doesn't make me want to buy anything particular.

RICK AND ADAM COULD HAVE DONE A BETTER COMMERICIAL
This was a waste of money. RIck and Adam could have done a better job with their little stickem broadcast.
stupid but awesome
Tottally not helping microsoft sell but still fucking hilarious.
the ending was classic.
Futuristic.
Delicious.
Swearing
What's up with the swearing? Whether it be OM** or actually spelled out, it is not appropriate for this site! Use some decorum people!
and the point of that was...
Ok, so... what about Windows? Or Office? Or anything that microsoft actually produces? That commercial doesn't make me want to buy shoes, cake, or seinfeld dvds, and certainly not an operating system made by a company that is completely out of touch with everything.
ms commercial
Seinfeld was my favorite TV show EVER. I just don't get it. This commercial isn't funny. It isn't clever. And my printer driver is still not compatible with Vista.
Can't wait for an OS that turns my computer into cake though.
?
this I don't get it and my vista system sucks
microsoft commercial
It made me smile. I also smile because I still have XP. It won't help Vista. It's just DUMB.
stunned
just when you think that its impossible for an organization to be any more out of touch with their customer base, the folks from redmond come up with this. i am astonished and feel stupider for having watched it. it is 1:30 of my life that i can never get back, and it was still shorter than vista's boot up time.
Microsoft commercial
El stupido
Gates should improve his product and move on
Instead of wasting money on stupid commercials, Gates should just improve his product and move on. Too bad he seems incapable of admitting to a mistake (Vista), if only to himself. Even he doesn't have enough money to brainwash savvy consumers into liking a product that has self-evidently been less than it could and should have been from the beginning.
It's kind of sad, actually. Just goes to show you that money can't buy everything.
MS commercial
Huh????
How did a guy (Gates) with a commercial that stupid amass a $50+ billion fortune? I don't get it.
(I say that as a person who generally appreciates Seinfeld's brand of humor.)
MS Commercial
WOW Now wonder MS stuff is so expensive !!! Ten megabucks for this cr** er mess !!
Almost as bad as the Seinfeld show !!
microsoft commercial
You've got to be kidding. Apple's commercials are better than most regular programing.
Microsoft commercial
My wife and I saw this commercial and didn't see any point to it. It's like "what was that??"
Microsoft needs to do a few things well instead of trying to do everything just so so.
microsoft commercial
That's supposed to make us feel good about Windoze?
microsoft commercial
I have seen a lot of stupid commercials in my 70 years but that one has to be up there in the top 10.
