Coincidence?

Submitted by Rick on January 5, 2008 - 11:10pm.
  • CES 2008
Adam and I just met Debby, our ASUS contact who is providing us with Eee PC's to cover CES. After picking up a pink Eee and a black one, we returned to find that we had parked in section 3E of the Bally's parking lot. Coincidence? You decide.Coincidence?

Unable to install Free AVG 8

Submitted by Smart Computer User on November 29, 2008 - 5:26am.

Have been running AVG8 for quite some time. I decided to try to dump the unhealed problems, it said my file was full and locked up just tight. I could not even get out of the AVG Scan. So I finally went into the Control Center and Uninstalled my current AVG8, thinking this was the only way I could get it back working. After uninstalling I proceeded to try to reinstall from a clean install The first installation stopped with this :Error action failed for file avgemc.exc.starting service. Error 0x8007041d It had left an Icon on my desk top, but no program was installed.

So I attempted again with this message ending installation: Error Action failed to file avgwd.log restoring from backup. Error x80070005%destination%= C\Document and setting\all users\Application Data\avgwd.log"%Source%"C\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVE8\Log\avewd.log.install_backup_5".Again it left an Icon on my desktop. Both attempts are still in my current desktop file with different numbers on them. When I uninstalled, I have two users plus myself as administrator, and I did go into each user and uninstalled. I am totally confused now and really need some help as I really cannot afford to purchase something. I have been happy with my AVG, but I cannot go very long without some type of antivirus coverage. Please, any advise will be appreciated.

Sounds like you didn't restart

Submitted by Rick on November 29, 2008 - 11:24am.

I'm guessing that you may not have restarted your computer after the initial uninstall. Try going to MSCONFIG and disabling all the startup options and all the non-Microsoft startup services, restart your computer, and try installing AVG again.
